Ha!

Fire Tower

So last Saturday I decided I wanted to take a hike that we had never done before. We usually either go to Bear Creek or just hike the trail around the lake. This time I wanted to go on the Fire Tower Trail. We tried to get an earlier start than we normally do because this is about a four mile hike. We still didn't get there till like 4, but we figured we'd have plenty of time. We borrowed Dereks's parents Jeep because the road has been really bad since it's been raining so much and we actually couldn't get down it last time we went. Derek's driving policy is something like: Why slow down when you could just barrel through it? So after nearly dying of whiplash, tearing up various parts of the Jeep, and having a few close calls we made it. The trail was gorgeous.

Now I know we're hiking to a fire tower on top of a mountain, but we were kind of already on top of a mountain so I totally underestimated the hike. It was uphill literally the whole way. And Chase and I nearly died. Not even in some crazy sixth dimension could Chase and I be considered in shape. We had to take like three breaks just so I could stop seeing my heartbeat in my eyes. Derek on the other hand, all 90 pounds of him, plowed his way over the mountain like he was still in the Jeep. Leaving us in his dust for about half of the trail. We finally did make it up to the fire tower.

They wouldn't let you go to the very top of the fire tower, but you could go up the stairs and it was gorgeous!!

The hike back down was definately more pleasant. And it took a lot less time, lol. But it was worth all the pain because it was a really great view from the top. :-)

Up in the Clouds

So today to celebrate our last day of spring break (which had been rained out) we decided to go hiking out at Lake Conasauga. We drove out past Bear Creek and made it about half way up the mountain and it had been raining so much the roads were destroyed. We barely made it through one patch of mud thinking it was just a bad spot in the road and then right around the corner was another bad patch. So we had to turn around and try to go back up. We almost didn't make it. So we went hiking at Bear Creek instead. But the distance we did make it up the mountain was breathtaking. The rain had made everything really green. And the rain clouds were still hovering around the tops of the mountains, so we got to drive through the clouds. It was beautiful.

Frauniebarger Friday

So I missed last Frauniebarger Friday, but I have a good reason, they had a show and I was actually out watching them instead of writing about them. Here is a bloopers video for their first video "Meet Frauniebarger." I'm still having problems with boxstr so I can't upload a song, but their entire album is available for download for free on their website. You can also purchase a copy of it for those of you who like to have one for the collection.

Beware the Homosexual

Wow...I can't even begin to tell you all the things that are wrong with this film, and in no way do I agree with the message. But it's probably the funniest thing I've watched all week (aside from The Office). Check it out:

One more thing...

I was watching Winnie the Pooh on the Disney channel this morning (yes, I still love Winnie the Pooh) and it went to a commercial break, which for the Disney channel means more shameless self-promotion. This music video comes on for the Imagination Movers; now I don't live at home with my little sisters anymore so I'm totally out of the little kid shows loop, but I find it hard to believe nobody else has mentioned this yet. One of the guys is kinda hot!

(the one on the far left- AKA: Mover Scott)

This could just be attributed to my weird obsession for guys with longer than normal hair (which started when I was about 9 and I had a crush on my friend's mom's boyfriend who had just gotten out of jail, he had hair like Barbie). But doesn't he look like that guy in high school who played drums and was abnormally funny. Not since my weird crush on Greg Page from the Wiggles have I watched such lame shows for the sake of a hot guy who could only be considered hot when placed on a children's show next to three other guys who could not in any way even be considered hot.

(the one in the yellow shirt)

So go ahead and laugh, but I know all the ladies out there are gonna be TiVo-ing this shit later.

Cat Nap Monday

Another lovely cat nap Monday. I laid on the couch wrapped up in a comforter and put on Dead Poets Society and was out like a light. Not that I dislike that movie, it's a really good movie, but I was really tired. Here are a couple of songs from my Princess and the Pea playlist. I generally use these to go to sleep or study b/c they are less distracting. Mum is a group from Iceland that has a unique sound. I find this song particularly calming. This particular song was featured in the movie Wicker Park. If you have not seen that movie I highly recommend it. Nine Inch Nails is generally not a band you expect to have a song that is peaceful enough to put you to sleep, but this song from their album The Slip is a beautiful little piano piece with lyrics so soft they almost take a back seat to the music itself.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Today I celebrated Dr.Seuss' birthday by watching the classic "The Lorax." Not only did Dr.Seuss write some of the greatest children's books of all time, but he was incredibly inspirational.

The Lorax:

Here is a weird song I found that mixed up clips of songs from the movie. It will put you in a Loraxy trance.
